Romans Ch. 3

Rom. 3:1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?

  • Could have been a question someone had ask Paul

Rom. 3:2 Much every way: (or These are good things) chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of Elohim.

  • Yah has given his own message to the Jews.

Deut. 4:8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

Gen.12:2-3 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of Elohim without effect?

  • Their lack of *faith will certainly not change Yah’s faithfulness.

Rom.3:4 Certainly not: yea, let Elohim be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

  • Yah ‘You are right when you speak.
  • Yah You overcome when men accuse you.
  • Yah always does everything that he promises to do.

Ps. 116:11 I said in my haste, All men are liars.

Ps. 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

Rom. 3:5 But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of Elohim, what shall we say? Is Elohim unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)
Certainly not: for then how shall Elohim judge the world?
For if the truth of Elohim hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

  • This idea may seem clever, but it is wrong.
  • Yahweh is always pure and true to His word.
  • Yah will always judge fair.

Gen 18:25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

Rom.3:8 And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose judgment is just.

  • Paul’s enemies pretended that Paul taught such ideas.
  • So Paul explained to the Believers in Rome that this report was untrue.
  • Everyone has sinned

Rom.3:9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after Elohim.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
Their feet are swift to shed blood:
Destruction and misery are in their ways:
And the way of peace have they not known:
There is no fear of Elohim before their eyes.
Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before Elohim.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Ecc. 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

Ps. 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no Elohim. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Yahweh looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek Elohim.
They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

  • These verses explain the nature of sin. Sin is the result of actions against Yah.
  • How we sin with our speech.

Ps. 5:9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

Ps. 10:7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

Ps. 140:3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.

  • Other verses about evil speech.

James. 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame: it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Isa. 59:7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

  • The only way to become righteous

Rom.3:21 But now the righteousness of Elohim without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

1Pet.1:10-11 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Messiah which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Messiah, and the glory that should follow.

Rom. 3:22 Even the righteousness of Elohim which is by faith of Yahshua Messiah unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of Elohim;
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Messiah Yahshua:
Whom Elohim hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of Elohim;
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Yahshua.
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Is he the Elohim of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
Seeing it is one Elohim, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not: yea, we establish the law.
